Over the long weekend we finally found the time to make the cats some shelter for the winter. We had a old wooden crate used to transport animals on aeroplanes so we modified that a little and then it was perfect.
We also saw one of the little kittens hanging out with the big cats in the tyres and grass.
A collection of individuals, members involved in other cat colonies and members of Animal Liberation Aotearoa (ALA) have come together voluntarily to look after a cat colony in an industrial area of south Auckland. As well as feeding the cats daily we aim to de-sex all of the cats and release them back to the colony. Eventually we will tame up the cats and rehome them when they are ready and homes are available.
What can you do to help:
- Donate food
- Donate a few dollars to go towards vet bills (this can be put into the ALA account ; do not forget to note that it is for the cat colony. The number is 12-3039-0384332-00
- Always de-sex the cats and dogs that you know and if you get a new companion animal always get them from a shelter or rescue place rather than a pet store.
If you want to know anything about this colony or want to ask questions to help cats that you are looking after please email us on tyrecats@ymail.com
